Writing in the Disciplines

Faculty Writing Workshops

At the beginning of each quarter, the Workshop Program offers a one-day faculty workshop on techniques of teaching with writing, co-sponsored by the Teaching Resources Center. The workshop discusses using writing to enhance critical thinking, principles of assignment design, techniques of coaching and commenting on writing, and participants get individual feedback on writing assignments in an assignment critique session.

Please note also that there's still time this academic year to schedule a customized workshop / consultation for your TAs, for your class, or for yourself. Use the online workshop request form accessible from http://wid.ucdavis.edu/workshop.htm, or contact Gary Sue Goodman.

The workshop will provide practical strategies for integrating writing into courses, designing assignments to improve students’ analytic and writing skills, and coaching and commenting on students’ writing.

You may attend a full-day workshop at the beginning of Fall, Winter or Spring OR you may attend a series of four workshops covering the same material.
